There is the energy crisis. There is also the looming recession in the United States, not to mention the exploding inflation in many countries. But there has also been the Covid-19 pandemic since 2020 and some countries are just reopening their borders. For several months now, tourists have been resuming their escapades around the world, thanks in particular to international flights that are starting up again. It is therefore not surprising that new hotels are opening everywhere, sometimes offering great luxury. Whether in the city or in the jungle, CNN has taken a look at some of the best new hotels to open in Asia this year.

Why not start with a trip to Thailand. The Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach will open next February with local architecture, six restaurants and a spa. Teak villas are on offer, as are beachfront suites, all spacious. A four-bedroom mansion or a six-bedroom ancestral home will also appeal to families. And don't forget the opportunity to take a dip in one of the three swimming pools. In Tokyo, Bulgari has a special opening with the Bulgari Hotel Tokyo on a brand new skyscraper near the Imperial Palace. The seven-storey hotel was designed by Italian architects Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and will offer 98 rooms and a suite on the 45th floor. A 25-metre indoor pool will also delight sports and relaxation enthusiasts.

Why not head to Indonesia too, to Cape Karoso. Located an hour east of Bali, the luxury hotel is set on a pristine island. The founding couple sought the agreement of the indigenous community before setting up and have committed to employing 80% local staff. Nature and luxury possible in 47 rooms and 20 villas. The proximity to Shanghai (half an hour by train) should delight travellers looking to explore, such as the historic Unesco-listed pagodas. The new Four Seasons will be located on a 9-hectare private island with all the usual Four Seasons service and amenities.
